Golf in Ayrshire, the Birthplace of the Open
Ayrshire is considered to be one of the best golf destinations in the world. And with nearly 50 courses in Ayrshire alone, it’s not surprising. Ayrshire is home to five of the UK’s top 100 courses and three Open Championship venues. Choose from links golf courses, parkland or an island course!
Links courses
The Ayrshire coast from West Kilbride in the north down to Girvan in the south is one of the world’s most glorious stretches of links golf courses. At over 45 miles, this stretch of coastal land is home to over a dozen of the most well respected, challenging and varied golf courses in the world. Three Open Championship Golf courses can be found here with old links layouts that include pot bunkers, fast greens with burns winding through them. New championship courses and high quality public courses together create a continuous stretch of golfing coastline that is completely unique and draws people from all over the world to play here.
Parkland courses
Although Scotland is famous for its links courses by the sea, there are plenty of other incredible courses to be played in Ayrshire catering for all budgets and ability levels. Play championship standard golf at affordable prices at some of Scotland’s finest parkland clubs.
